New figures from The Publishers Association show that audiobook income soared in 2024, reaching a record £268m.
And it's not surprising. People are busier than ever, and their schedules don't necessarily leave time for reading a physical book.
With an audiobook, people can 'read' while driving, while exercising, even while waiting at the doctors' office (though real books are still good for that, too).
They're a way for people with dyslexia or visual impairments to digest a great book, and can be much more accessible than physical books.
