The London Book Fair is back again at the famous Olympia in London, from 12th to 14th March 2024. 

It’s the place where everyone comes together to celebrate the one thing we all love: books. From authors, publishers, commissioners, copyright experts, book event organisers, book printers, literary agencies, bookshop PoS providers, there’s a place for almost everyone at the London Book Fair.

What’s on at the London Book Fair 2024?

The London Book Fair always has an incredible array of talks, seminars and conferences to join. This year is no different. Below, you can find just some of the events taking place during the 2024 event. 

 

Seminars

What?: Self-Publishing 101: Your toolkit for bestseller success

When?: Tuesday 12th March, 10am-10.45am

Details: Listen to three self-published authors as they explain what it means to become a self-published author and how they made it happen.

 

What?: Exploring the Ever-Evolving World of Publishing

When?: Tuesday 12th March, 11.15am-12pm

Details: With a shift to digital platforms, e-books and other online mediums, publishers have to adapt to keep up. This debate will observe some of the key trends that are changing the industry and how they’re being addressed. 

 

Don’t miss! A special talk from Taylor Jenkins-Reid, author of popular bestsellers The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones and the Six.

What?: Keeping up with Social Media

When?: Tuesday 12th March, 12pm-12.45pm

Details: As an author, social media is such an important tool. The experts will explain why social media is so important and how authors can use it for promotion and reader engagement.

 

What?: The Rise & Rise of the Indie Author: Self-Publishing Futures

When?: Tuesday 12th March 2.45pm-3.30pm

Details: This seminar will look at some of the trends around self-publishing, with a special focus on artificial intelligence (AI) and how it could impact self-publishing in the future. 

 

What?: Diversifying Authors, Diversifying Incomes

When?: Wednesday 13th March 11am-11.45am

Details: This panel session will teach you how self-publishing can promote diversity and be more inclusive. Three self-published indie authors will tell you their own stories and motivations. 

 

What?: The Evolving Role of Content Protection in the Age of A.I.

When?: Wednesday 13th March, 1pm-1.30pm

Details: Content replication and duplication may only get worse with AI. This seminar will look at some of the ways content protection needs to be improved and adapted to shield authors. 

 

What?: Adapting a Bestseller: Elle McNicoll on A Kind of Spark

When?: Wednesday 13th March, 1.45pm-2.10pm

Details: Author Elle McNicoll explains how her book was adapted for television.

 

What?: The Lifecycle of a Book and its Impact on the Climate

When?: Wednesday 13th March, 4.30pm-5pm

Details: Thousands of books are printed every day, so what effect does this have on the climate? This seminar will discuss the climate impact on a book, including its lifecycle and how a circular economy could help. 

 

What?: SheEOs in Publishing- Women Pioneering the Pages

When?: Thursday 14th March, 10.30am-11am

Details: The panel for this session includes Judith Curr, Ameena Sayid and Emma House. They will discuss leadership and innovation as women in publishing. 

 

What?: Getting Started - Building Tomorrow's Readers

When?: Thursday 14th March, 2.45pm-3.30pm

Details: An interesting session about the creation of books aimed at babies and toddlers. The panel will also answer why books are so important for children’s education and development.
